Scalp Micropigmentation is a permanent cosmetic procedure where micro needles deposit pigment into the scalp creating the appearance of fuller hair. Essentially a tattoo for the scalp, this ink lasts longer than your traditional microbladed eyebrows but do not penetrate as much of the skin as a traditional tattoo will.

What does the process look like?

After an initial consultation you will relax in a comfortable chair and Rhonda will use a hand held device to insert tiny dots into your scalp, mimicking the look of hair follicles. 3 sessions are recommended. The first session determines placement. The second will determine density and the third is for finishing touches. Don't fret though, you will see immediate results after the first session.

So it's a tattoo?

Kind of yes. A tattoo machine is used but the needles are much smaller and specialized for this procedure. Also a regular tattoo goes down 5 layers of skin, this only goes down 2.

How long does it last?

With proper care you can go up to 6 years before a touch up.

What does proper care mean?

After the initial healing is over you should try and avoid sun exposure to your head as much as possible. The more sun your scalp gets the faster the microdots fade.

And what does the initial healing entail?

For the scalp to heal properly you want to avoid touching it, sweating, hair fibers, washing, coloring, swimming, saunas, steam rooms, hair products, and sun exposure for at least 4 days. Unlike other tattoo methods you do not need to apply any ointments and heals best when left clean dry and alone.
